Paediatric rheumatology out-patient clinic
The paediatric rheumatology out-patient clinic at the Charité University Hospital is one of the largest of its kind in Germany. An inter-disciplinary team of physicians, specialised nursing personnel, physiotherapists and social workers care for the young patients with the aim of providing treatment that is successful in the long-term. In-patient diagnosis, therapy adjustment and monitoring is also available.
Close interdisciplinary cooperation with other paediatric disciplines, such as:
- Radiology (a special MRT scanner for children)
- Orthopaedics
- Dermatology
- Nephrology
- Paediatric neurology (central nervous system vasculitis)
- phthalmology (uveitis centre)
- Infection immunology (immune system defects)
- Orthodontics, oral and maxillofacial surgery
We also cooperate in the treatment of the following conditions:
- Chronic articular complaints and all forms of juvenile idiopathic arthritis
- Joint inflammation related to infections e.g. Lyme arthritis, reactive arthritis, rheumatic fever
- Connective tissue disease, e.g. Lupus erythematosus, dermatomyositis, scleroderma
- Vascular inflammation, e.g. Henoch-Schoenlein purpura, Kawasaki syndrome, Takayasu's arteritis
- Fever syndrome, e.g. familial Mediterranean fever, PFAPA syndrome, TRAPS syndrome
- Unexplained fever
- Pain syndromes, e.g. generalised pain amplification syndrome, chronic regional pain syndrome, fibromyalgia, reflex dystrophy
- Chronic recurring multifocal osteomyelitis
- Other systemic inflammatory diseases, e.g. Behçet's disease, sarcoidosis
